OK, we're halfway back...

Thank you a million times for all those helpful messages. I have now managed to get back to the old template, BUT, as you see, all the sidebar stuff is at the bottom of the page. Any attempt on my part to bring it back up where it should be at the side results in New Blogger wading in with all kinds of customizations and horrors.

I'll sleep on it. You are all loves.

Well, bloody hell. I was hoping the stuff I sent you might help - it doesn't appear that way, does it? Sorry, love - here's hoping the site techies can fix it for you!

Deep breaths, dear one. I'm of absolutely no help here what with my not being a blogger, but know you're adored whether or not you can see how many actual times per day it is.

Hi Jo,
I got your message about the site Meter and checked my own blog and found that it too was gone. So this is what I did:

I went to the Site Meter site and logged in.
Went to the "Manager" page.
went to "Site Information" on the left sidebar.
Once there I made sure that it had the correct web address (my new blogger site now has www before it- didn't used to)Then I saved changes and went to the "HTML" link on the left sidebar.
Under websites it has "blogger/blogspot and then BETA version. Click on "Beta".
This will take you to a page that has the HTML/Javascript code that you need. It also has all of the directions on how to get it onto your blog.

The key with the new blogger is to use the LAYOUT and Template links to get your blog the way you like it. It is awesome. No more entering HTML codes by hand. Just drag, drop and save. I like it very much!

Please feel free to contact me (ccbajema at gmail dot com) if you have any questions.

Good luck and I hope that this helps! I was able to get my site meter back up and running. Oh yeah, don't fret about the number, somewhere at the Site Meter place there was a way to start with a higher number.

You poor thing. I'm afraid when blogger forced me to move, I threw a strop and moved all the way to Wordpress.

It seems fairly intuitive, and is 'open source'.

I can't help you with your hit counter problems, but it seems that Cindy has some good ideas.

Hang in there!

Cindy, you're a gem. I couldn't find the Manager page, but your hint on the www function did the trick. I somehow managed to get it back on the page. Now to sort out the rest of it...

WHY. DON'T. WOMEN. WRITE. ALL. TECHNICAL. DOCUMENTS???

Lots of women DO write tech docs (like me, for example). The problem is that executives at so many tech companies think, "How can we save money? I know, can all the tech writers, ANYbody can do that job. And you know what happens then.
Bitter much? No, not me!
